Welcome to this October 2020 update to the check-in form.

New features

📄 Terms & Conditions

You can now add your property's terms and conditions to the check-in form, to which the guest must agree in order to submit the form.

Here's an example on computer:

And on mobile:

Note: Terms and conditions will automatically be the second-last question in your form, no matter where you put it in order.

Adding your terms and conditions

Go to Check-in > Check-in form > Add question.

You will see Terms under Custom questions:

Paste your terms and conditions into the free text box:

Don't forget to make the question mandatory!

✍ Digital signature

Guests can sign their name to a question you pose to them. When using a mobile device, they can use their finger to sign; when using computer, they can use their mouse.

Note: The signature questions will automatically be thelast question in your form, no matter where you put it in order.

Adding your terms and conditions

Go to Check-in > Check-in form > Add question.

You will see Signature under Preset questions:

Give your signature question a meaningful title, and don't forget to make it mandatory!

The image of the guest's signature will be visible in both the check-in email you receive, and also in the guest's reservation profile page in GuestJoy.

🛂 ID images

Enable your guests to send a copy of their ID or passport ahead of time!

When the guest is using a computer:

They will be prompted to attach an existing image.

When a guest is using their mobile device:

They will be prompted to choose either taking a new photo, or choosing an existing image on their device.

Adding ID image

Go to Check-in > Check-in form > Add question.

You will see Document copy under Custom questions:

Add a meaningful question title. Don't forget to choose whether only the main guest needs to provide an copy, or all guests; and don't forget to make the question mandatory.

📆 Date of birth

We have changed the format of the date of birth field to make it easier and faster for guests to complete the question. If you were already using this field, we have updated it automatically for you!

The new format of the question uses good old fashioned drop down boxes:

Clever things you can do on your check-in form

Here are some of the novel things other customers have done with their check-in forms:

🕗 Choose a time slot

Asking guests to choose their preferred time slot for having breakfast, dinner, leisure time, etc.

Just add a drop down box and start adding the options your guest can choose from:

📧 Personal email address

Yes, those OTA masked email addresses are annoying, but why not ask the guest to confirm their personal email address on the form?

Don't use a free text question for this - instead, use our Email question under Preset questions, because that one has some validation built-in to detect if the guest is actually entering a valid email address.

🤔 Market research

Ask the guest the reason they are staying with you. This can help you by giving you an idea of why people choose your property, which means:

  • You can fine-tune how you market your property, and
  • You can have a better idea of what things you could upsell to your guests

✅ Opt-in

Particularly useful if you ask the guest to update their personal email address, you could question whether they want to opt-in for your promotional/marketing emails.

Just use the Radio buttons question type when adding it to your form.
